Collector Training

The objective of this class is to teach you on how to collect specimens for drug testing in accordance to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) mandatory Guidelines, and industry best practices. You will be given information about collecting specimens under different conditions and the standards of practice to follow when collecting specimens for employers and agencies not subject to DOT regulation. Fortier will emphasize the critical importance of maintaining the security and integrity of the specimen during the collection and transfer process, while at the same time ensuring that the modesty and privacy of the donor are respected.

Collecting specimens for drug testing carries a great deal of responsibility for the collector. You must be recognized as a Certified Professional Collector prior to collections; this class provides the means of receiving this certification.
